Also, and this is important: I'm going to start formalizing some of this stuff: establishing specific ports, market prices, travel times, that kind of thing. It'll be a while, but it's happening. If anyone wants to help balance it, be my guest.

Look to hire an interpreter.  I will pay well.

Also what is my current crew?  If I already have one, then scrap that.

Also what cargo do I have that can be traded for tea?

Aaaand finally, any other VOC merchants at port or with my party with their own ships?

You arrive at Calicut.

It's a port city, so it's likely multilingual.

Not anything of consequence.  A single chest full of personal family treasures and heirlooms.

Nobody with you, but I'm sure you'll find some other Dutchmen hanging around at port.

I'm looking to take a trip to the interior.

You've got one.
Well you gonna tell me about em?

Nobody with you, but I'm sure you'll find some other Dutchmen hanging around at port.
Alright.
Also "nothing of consequence" doesn't mean nothing.  It means I left it to you to decide what it is so long as it isn't over-the-top like gold, opium, silver, etc.

In that case, you've got sugar and salt. Sugar's not going to sell well in India because it's got a substantial supply, but salt might.

When the left side of the vessel is facing the city. I ask my crew if we're in range to fire onto the city. He agrees and I order every cannon on the left side to fire at any port they sea belonging to the city.

"Ah."

I spot a rich-looking merchant ship off in the distance.

"Full sail!", I shout to the crew.

We close in on the ship.

They strike a few buildings on the side. The crowds run from the dock, and Spanish captains dash to their ships.
