also, the pirate's ship is severely damaged, with the masts destroyed, and it's taking in water.
go in and battle for the plunder, finish him off, or let him drown?

you and your merchants have received a couple blows and might be travelling a little slower, but overall you're not too badly damaged because he had to spread out his shots
