Author Topic: Americans choose Harriet Tubman to be on the $20 bill  (Read 48607 times)

goes to show some latent loveism that people object to harriet tubman on money cus she's not pretty, but totally cool to ol jefferson and jackson and other dudes cus they're important.

"it doesn't matter that they're not handsome, they're out forefathers, you idiot!"

"aight what about tubman"

"i dunno she's kinda weeeird"

i mean she wasn't a building block though
yeah she rescued slaves but she didn't build an entire country
not saying she isn't important though

the guys on the current bills aren't outright ugly tho
and harriet tubman didn't really do anything to help many people in the long run
we should choose someone who's actually important

You should just get a queen.
That way there's always an important woman on your notes. And your coins. And your stamps. And your socks.

The only points being argued are

1. she's not pretty

2. There are other people

Why do these make her a poor choice? Legitimately? All this proves is that you are kind of an starfish and that there are other people who would be a good choice. We have other bills, guys.

not saying she isn't important though
this is the main reason why I'm not in favor of putting her on the $20 (or any bill, really)

if you want to put a woman on it, put a woman that did something more important

you're forgetin nuts man

I'm American and I didn't choose this.

Keep Old "Injun Slayer" Hickory where he belongs: the g-string of a hooker's thong

you know she was only a big part in abolishing slavery no biggie
She freed around 70 friends and family members from slavery, acted as a spy for the Union, and then went to later fight for women's sufferage.  I cannot deny that she's a symbol, but she didn't really change America down to its roots.

Lincoln emancipated slaves with the stroke of a pen.

What about any of the progressive presidents?

America didn't choose Harriet Tubman, 118 thousand chose Harriet Tubman. Please don't make these clickbaity titles.

I would rather have someone like Kennedy rather than Tubman.

Lincoln emancipated slaves with the stroke of a pen.
hate to break it to ya but it really wasn't that simple. hell, unless im mistaken, he hardly even cared about it, even during the civil war.

The best things to put on our bills would be figureheads/symbols that represent what we want as a country. Tubman does this.

JFK, Reagan, or FDR on our bills would be nice and maybe Teddy?

i know! she did illegal things for the greater good and helped give FREEDOM to countless slaves. and again, she's more well known as a historical figure.

again, there are other bills. unless that's what you meant, of course.

Jeez Kimon. Maybe you and Ms. Tubman should get a room... -.-
