Author Topic: Just got into the Mass Effect Series  (Read 333 times)

I just got Mass Effect 2 from the Humble Origin Bundle 2. I've never understood the hype or the likeness to the game that everyone else experiences before I got the game. Oh boy, now I have.

The game is absolutely awesome. I just can't believe how into it I am. It's incredible! I can't wait to finish ME2 so I can get ME3.

I am just thrilled, just needed someplace to tell people (my parents don't give a stuff about games).

So I guess discuss your opinions about the ME series?

(On ME2 I'm currently playing Soldier. I've played as Vanguard and didn't like it, and my Adept playthrough messed up.)

i played ME1 once and i got like halfway through it
i can't remenber why i stopped tho
i think i just kinda lost interest after a bunch of weird boring exploration missions with some combat mixed in
i mean they lead to plot eventually but eugh

ME1 was good, but it was drastically improved in ME2, which is where it also picked up a lot of popularity.
Travel and things was kinda interesting in ME1, but yeah, you spent too long roaming around planets in the MAKO looking for collectibles.

And I don't know what it's like on PC, but I could not get back into ME1 on Xbox after playing ME2/3.
The controls and gameplay were just so different and so much more awkward that it really ruined it for me. It was fine the first time around, because I was blissfully ignorant that it could get better.

I always went Vanguard on mine, because I liked having some Biotic powers, as well as a couple of decent weaponry powers.
I did always have to have a Tech character though to fill in the gap.

The first time I played ME2 I played Vanguard. I didn't like the charge ability because it put you out into the open. You just can't be fast enough to get over cover facing your enemies again. You can't get the super-weapons as Vanguard though.

Any tips if I play it again?
