i thought rivals was pretty good.
In the few instances that you can play the game and not have it plagued by technical issues, it is
decent, but only just. The handling/controls are odd, and there didn't seem to be much variety in the world.
On PC, the game is a complete clusterforget, especially with physics being tied to the framerate.
Should be noted: I enjoyed Hot Pursuit 2010 for a few weeks (bought it on release day too), but eventually I found that game frustrating as well.
i played a bit of The Run a while ago and thought it was neat?
I got The Run as a birthday present, and I thought it was probably the blandest racer I ever played when I finished it. The music was loving fantastic, and there were one or two highlight sequences I enjoyed (the ending race was a decent conclusion, and there was another really tight driving section), but the overall linear structure and QTEs were over-hyped and EA were trying desperately to sell them as what they're not. It's pretty clear that The Run's devs also don't understand puzzle design, because a lot of sequences (like the avalanche bit) were repetitive and annoying.
