i don't really know how to explain seeing as it confused me as well, last night she said that since she is the root of the problem she needs to stay away from me i then told her the laundry list of depressing reasons why that was wrong and now everything is fine.

think about it like this: in 12 months, will this have affected you at all? no? good. so stop caring now.
when you've constantly gone from friends to friends for 5-6 years losing one will mess with you harder than it would, plus i would see/hear about her all the time anyway
