M240 > M249

You asshats are forgetting Gyrojets. Who needs bullets when you can fire small rockets?

"Alright let me load up here" *puts money into the magazine* "The hell are you doing" "Oh, didn't you hear, rockets are better than bullets"

at the shooting range a few years ago, i missed like a motherforgeter and hit the concrete post seperating each shooter's lane

i picked the bullet out of the broken concrete and fiberglass, it's pretty loving cool

MMG and SAW aren't really comparable in their roles
SAWs are for suppression where MMGs are for base-of-fire support from a distance with decent accuracy and power

But the 240 and the 249 are vary comparable, as both have been or are used by infantry. This is the focus of the comparison.

My main preference is the M240's use of 7.62 cartridges, as compared to the M249's 5.56.

M240B is a SAW.

M240B is a SAW.
Wikipedia would disagree. The only mention of SAW on the entire page is this

Other suggestions included adding collapsible bipod legs like the squad automatic weapon (SAW), wiring down the heat shields and an ammunition carrying system to carry 300–400 linked rounds.
which is suggesting that they make the weapon more like a SAW, which kinda implies that it isn't one. Unless they're referencing the M249 with that, it's worded a bit weird

do you know why that didn't become popular? Very expensive ammunition and very underpowered unless the target is a about 200ft away

Weren't those designed for use in space?

Yep. But even so, they were pretty inaccurate when used on earth, as I believe. There's a reason we don't use them.

do any of you plan on conceal carrying when you're old enough?

Funfact: The browning was also made in belgium

Many countries buy production licenses to manufacture an existing thing rather than design their own weapon.
