i'm actually really glad you can have solid color now; you could have solid color in 7 by disabling aero, but in 8 that was gone and you could not make windows have a solid colour no matter how much you wanted to

Windows 10 has pretty much the same coloring scheme as 8.1

windows aero in 7 looked more graphically intense than 8
I prefer the simpler 8 aero anyway

I have to agree with Georges here. Before I used to like the glossy look over the solid minimalist look, but I've kind of grown out of the gloss style of aero. I'm glad for the change.
