Author Topic: Famous male athlete Bruce Jenner transforms into a women  (Read 6703 times)

and you sit there, wondering, "why are there people who disagree with me?"
Whether or not you see gender the same way other people do is irrelevant. You're entitled to your own views and most people respect that.

However, the only people who will deliberately refer to someone as the wrong gender are people who see their own philosophy on gender as paramount to another person's entire identity. If you want to live your life as a women, you can't truly be a woman if other people are constantly referring to you as male. Thus, by deliberately referring to someone using the wrong pronouns, you're essentially telling them that your own personal perspective on gender is more important than not depriving them the ability to live comfortably in their own body.

In my humble opinion, that makes you an starfish.

you can change your gender, and nobody can stop it from being fact. you can't call yourself a carrot. that's a stuffty argument.
That's a double standard if I saw one.
Your only argument is that one of them is stupid. Newsflash: many think transgenderism is stupid too

Your opinion is stuffty and you should feel bad for sharing it.

no it isn't. carrots aren't a gender.
Newsflash: many think transgenderism is stupid too
1. then they're stupid... damn it really aint that hard!
2. 'transgenderism?' really? pls read up on the topic first at LEAST

ok joe ya need to chill out
don't make everyone think of you as a
trans,,,genderphobiac?

no it isn't. carrots aren't a gender.
What does that have to do with anything? You can still "identify" as one as much as you wanted too. I'm sure if someone did go out and identify as a carrot people would defend them for it.

Sorry, I guess I used the wrong buzzword.

I recognize and acknowledge that you are a carrot, joe. Kimon should respect that.

you just have to go through carrot hormone therapy and look like a carrot

then your argument is validated

that's your opinion too
and I think it's stuffty too

You're not allowed to have an opinion like the smart people

I recognize and acknowledge that you are a carrot, joe. Kimon should respect that.
Glad your the only one who can accept that FACT!!!1

found this gem on Imgur:

it ain't an opinion, caitlyn jenner is a woman.
While I support trans people and such, this is kind of a bad argument
In his mind, a woman is someone with a vagina. You two have different beliefs on what womanhood is. Calling it a fact won't change anything because it's not really a fact, it's semantics.

I would just say why does it matter to you if she identifies as a female?
How does it affect your life? Surely if someone would take such a huge risk (serious cosmetic surgery + being the 'icebreaker' for trans people in mainstream culture + being in the public eye during all of this) to recreate themselves there's a legitimate reason for it.
It's simply a matter of politeness. If someone feels that they are not cisgendered it's no skin off your back to treat them as such.

And unlike identifying as a carrot, gender dysphoria has legitimate roots in psychology and biology. It is recognized as a mental state (NOT a disorder) by the American Psychological Association. Studies have found differences in the brain structure of trans people and cis people.

What does that have to do with anything? You can still "identify" as one as much as you wanted too. I'm sure if someone did go out and identify as a carrot people would defend them for it.
