I feel sorry for Fallout fans.
that's about the same time it takes to run across skyrim at full sprint. a bit longer, even

I would probably use Piper if anyone.
Human companions are usually more interesting, can usually hold more (I think), can be improved by having them hold better armour and weapons, and unlike animals can do ranged attacks, so they don't piss off and get lost.

You shouldn't, outdoor map size means literally nothing to me in Fallout games

There is some serious angst going on in that comment section though, people are really desperate to find any reason to stuff on the game

For comparison, it takes 14 minutes to run across Skyrim. People can milk thousands of hours out of a game that is mostly mountains. I can't even imagine how much time I will spend in a dense area like Boston.

Murdering anything that moves is a great way to kill time

Is that from the top of the map to the bottom, or from east to west, or doing a lap of it?

It doesn't even matter how long it takes to run from one side to the other though, because you're going to get distracted by things on the way. I have never made it across any Elder Scrolls/Fallout map in less than half an hour, because I will always end up fighting stuff, or exploring a building, or looting things.

Map size has literally nothing to do with map quality. Case in point: Spencer Mansion, Resident Evil 1's famous mansion. The entirety of the game takes place inside or near the mansion, having you explore every nook and cranny, allowing the player to become familiar with their surrounding on just a level to memorize floor plans and secret passages. On the other hand, you have games like Just Cause 2, which boasts an incredibly expansive world, but little to no detail to show for it.

Taking the piss out of Fallout 4 for having a small map is unfair for the developers. Having a smaller map necessarily means it's easier to put attention into detail rather than expansiveness, and Skyrim has pretty much shown that a small map can offer quite a bit of exploration.

I'll be rolling with Codsworth if he's a companion. Having someone or someTHING from pre-war by my side is comforting.

Fallout 4's map is, they've said, the same size as Skyrim without the mountains
Which is really big???
I don't understand the problem here
They're also not taking the huge amount of interiors into account

It's just bitching for the sake of bitching.

Happens with every highly anticipated game.

Really I should just rename this thread to: "Nitpicking, Nitpicking Never Changes". It seems like since the leaks a very vocal minority has decided to just stuff on any and all aspects of the game.

It would be more accurate because technically the wait changes every moment
