(that particular image is taken from the poll in that thread about hot video game characters, but alternative posted a full sized version before, probably can be found somewhere)

I'm waiting to find my son who looks like Riddler

No idea if anyone has said it yet, but has anyone seen the new achievements for the robot dlc? Looks like the mechanist from Fallout 3 is coming back.

Only the skin colour changes, not the whole baby. Sadly...

screw the mechanist i want three dog

The whole getting frozen, looking for your son, and your son turning out to be the antagonist (I mean come on, he's the head of the Institute - 3/4 paths basically paint him as the antagonist) were pretty popular theories.
funnily enough i went with the institute my first playthrough

Looks like the mechanist from Fallout 3 is coming back.

I mean, it does say that in the DLC description

I noticed that, but I honestly thought Bethesda was ever just going to make him a character that you couldn't see, and he'd just be taunting you on a radio or something. Or he'd just be mentioned.

the real question is, is it the original mechanist or someone else whose taken on the costume?

imagine if you could transfer your character from fo3 to be the mechanist lmao

but if its the original that means the mechanist wins in fo3 canon!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1!!!!!!!!!
forget u antagonizer!!!!!!!!!!!!!

the real question is, is it the original mechanist or someone else whose taken on the costume?

and that brings into question which resolution of the quest in FO3 is "canon"

probably the brotherhood

probably the brotherhood
He means the mechanist/AntAgonizer quest.

Either you defeat the Mechanist, or the AntAgonizer, or you convince one of them that the other is dead, or that one of them should stop, or you get them to both stop, or you can kill them both.

We could assume that at the very least the Mechanist doesn't die, but I don't think that's necessarily true.
Even if the Mechanist were left alive, and still acting like a superhero, then it's 10 years later, and he's in his 50's. A bit old for an inexperienced guy to be trekking between the Capital Wasteland and the Commonwealth, surely.

If the Mechanist makes a full re-appearance, I reckon it will be a descendant of his, or possibly an entirely different person, who may even be from the Commonwealth.
After all, the Mechanist is a comic book character, and there are plenty of comic books, and even costumes in the Commonwealth.

He's also described as an enemy of the Silver Shroud, so there might be some unique dialogues if you meet him dressed as the Shroud, or wear his costume to meet Kent Connolly.

the mechanist was in the commonwealth all along and hes the man who makes and repairs BoS powerarmor
he was proctor teagan the whole time
