Rules & Information
1.The higher your population or more land your town has, the harder it will be for you to maintain control of your town's outer reaches.
2.You cannot roleplay as a town outside Laclede County, but you may interact with these towns.  You cannot create and roleplay as an entirely new town.
3.Military grade weapons are not by any means easy to come by.
4.The Federal and State Governments will attempt to maintain control and will meddle.
5.The closer you are to the government, the more likely you are to receive aid from them.  It will come at a price.
6.Don't powergame or metagame.
7.Please keep drama out of the thread.  Create a "Laclede Megathread" in Drama if you must, but try to keep it out of here.
8.The moderators are human too.  If you're reasonable and patient, odds are they will be too.
9.The map is rough (and possibly even inaccurate) because I had really rough source material and very limited geographical information to work with.  County borders are extra thick.  If you feel that you can improve it, you are more than welcome to try.
10.Use good judgment.

When are we going to start?
Now that we've got five people, immediately.

Those casualties are unrealistic (Russia has less people than that), I know.  Just roll with it.

The nearest city to be nuked is St. Louis.  The prevailing winds there (South) fortunately will spare Laclede County from most of the fallout.
The President and Congress have repealed all Constitutional rights and established martial law until order within the United States is restored.
Canada and Mexico are both overwhelmed with refugees and will likely be unable to care for them all.

Not everyone will realize it's the end of the world.  Many, if not most, will expect order to be restored.
The people who do realize it's the end of the world are the hardcore preppers.  They fled to their bug out locations when the bloc formed.
Lots of people will attempt to flee, even here.
Towns with a population over 2,000 (randomly generated number, sorry folks) experience riots and looting - I leave the extent in your hands, be reasonable.
Begin.

People defend themselves in their homes. Vigilante groups form to protect the innocent in Gasconade. Other groups form to feed people who cant feed/scavenge for themselves.

The Police force is called upon to create safe zones (around town hall, the hospital, and the main street + 100 blocks of housing), which are to be expanded, and all looters are to be shot on site. Rioters will be reprimanded and those who do not riot will be the first inside these zones. Beginning now, power (which is still on), will be taken in via the use the town hall and hospital's extensive amount of battery backups. Anything outside of the safe zones will experience blackouts.

Order must be established.

The limited armed response teams and law enforcement are deployed to try and combat the rioting and looting. Granted, due to the majority of the demographic of the area, the rioting is rather tame and mostly the young and the brash and committing looting, that of which the law enforcement is quick to begin to crack down upon. Law enforcement create a perimeter around the town hall, hospital, and police station. Riots are to be quelled peacefully with an allowance of force if necessary, and the looters are to be apprehended, and shot and killed if attempting to resist or run.

Folks, I don't expect 100% realism in this matter, mainly because the only place in the county where there actually is anything is Lebanon, but do try to avoid putting in too many major landmarks (like hospitals) that don't exist in reality.  I'm talking military bases or airfields or things that will give you an immense advantage.  That is all; use good judgment.

-Town-
Please pick a town that's on the map and in the county.  This is a real county and real towns (or at least real divisions within the county), which we're sticking to, for now at least.

The State government sees the crossroads in Lebanon (where the rioting is most intense) to be of great enough importance that it has dispatched about 100 national guard troops there to maintain order and the flow of traffic.  After only an hour the troops use deadly force to maintain their mission.  Within three days a well armed mob killed around fifty of these troops in an ambush, and the remaining national guard troops request to retreat was granted.  Traffic in and around Lebanon is at a standstill and the city is out of control.

Much of Smith's trouble comes from Route 44, with locals fleeing North by it and outsiders passing through to the South.  Amid the traffic jams and the panic there there is violence to a degree that local law enforcement lacks the training or experience to handle.  Looting and rioting within the more developed area of Smith is mostly from outsiders attempting to ravage while they pass through, and so law enforcement appoints a number of armed provisional deputies (mostly other emergency personnel and known level headed men) to help locals defend themselves and defend critical places such as town hall and the police and fire stations.
