Here are some personal favorites of mine:
Hook swords require so much training to use properly it's unreal.
The second thing isn't sure if it's a sword or an inverted axe with a sharp handle. No, serious, what the forget is with that guard?
He does historical arms and armor as well as knife reviews.
Actually where I learned most of what I know about bladeplay. Recomended channel.

I'd love to learn Arming sword & Buckler and (maybe German) Longsword sometime. My scope of interest changes from culture to culture all the time, so it's hard to pinpoint some favorites.

Maybe a few are the Falcata or Kopis, Oakshott type XIV sword, the triangular blade is so cool to me. Bastard/Longsword (depends on your interpretation), and I've always been a fan of big things like the "Zweihander" but they're so unwieldy. I've always liked Shamshirs too, but not their style of use. Backswords are cool, moreso arming swords with the more intricate handles, but I haven't been able to find any online.

Flamberge's are a particular favorite of mine as I favor two handed and hand-and-a-half swords over one handed swords but they are really unique in the blade shape and they are one of the best weapons to use when destroying halberds because the waved shape blade cut into the handle better than a straight edged blade.

It's not easy to cut the handle of polearms.
Skallagrim covered that.

He was using curved and straight edged blades. Not once did he use a Flamberge

he just googled cool swords

I actually own a sword

It's rivited at the start

when I get older and have the money for things I'm gonna make a metal sword
I would do it right now but I lack a forge and metal

katanas are for edgelords

zweihander masterrace \/

flamberges are pretty cool too

fun fact: flamberges are actually not stuff like this

very common misconception; flamberges are actually only one handed weapons, usually rapiers

the zweihander with an undulating blade is actually a flammenschwert, literally "flaming sword" because the curves resemble a flame

zweihander masterrace

no parrying hooks or half-swording handle 0/10 your zwei is gat

no parrying hooks or half-swording handle 0/10 your zwei is gat

was for size comparison, that specific zwei would be massively ineffective to use

also, as a side note

i do think that flammenschwert were a real thing used in combat

however, the viability of using it for cutting polearms is... questionable. it could probably hook them, though, which if you half-sword could be useful.

the thing is, even if making your sort into what's essentially a saw /does/ increase its ability to cut a polearm, it's a lot harder to sharpen an uneven blade and you can bet you'll dull it really quickly by attacking the enemy's weapons

it was likely present as a sort of mark of status, as they do look nice
