The sword.
The third-oldest weapon designed by man.
The sword has seen use from the earliest findings we have of them existing- 3300 BC -from the mainstay of armies to the weapon carried by nobles, from knights in shining armor to the men of the Napoleonic wars, from Egyptian warriors bearing Kopesh to Chinese soldiers bearing Dao, from Claymore to Macuahuitl, the sword has been found as a part of every country's history with the obvious exception of countries founded in the last one-hundred and sixty years. Even today, military officers are required to wear swords when they attend events- the sword may find no target and might not bare an edge, but it still resonates in the mind for all it has- and still to this day does- stand for.
