the dissent felt during the war (lack of organization, cruel policies, etc) was amplified when german soldiers returned home with little to show for it. a brief revolution occurred (inspired by the bolsheviks) in which the government was flipped from a federal monarchy to a federal republic. wilhelm abdicated at this time to avoid being associated with it and handed the keys over to the social-democratic party, the group which returning soldiers flooded with support
lenin is still alive and is the current ruler of the soviet union and is pressing his leninism ideology upon it. the german social-democrats are sympathetic to the bolshevik cause and share several common beliefs. whether either group will run off into a tangent is yet to be seen
