Author Topic: TristanBomb's FTB Factions Server - Yet another update™™  (Read 5252 times)

A faction server based on FTB Lite 3 with extra mods, so even pretty bad computers should be able to play.

IP: tristanbomb.us.to

About:
This server is, as previously stated, based on Feed The Beast Lite 3, although additional mods have been added (see the modlist and directions). Players are casually organized into 11 factions - 9 of which are standard factions, with an additional two for peaceful and free-for-all players. While the factions have been set up to add competition, please avoid direct griefing! An element of competition is fun, but losing all that you worked for isn't. Pranks and surprise ambushes are okay as long as it's in good nature. Mob griefing is disabled and keep inventory is enabled. Finally, there is an unobtainable item called the Mana Infused Gear. I have placed it by the Observatory as a reward for the first player to join and it is the only item that can be stolen - it's basically a flag to be captured, so don't destroy it. If you destroy it on accident or misplace it, just let me know. Have fun!

Rules:
  • Do not destroy player structures or items: no griefing or stealing (aside from.
  • Never attack a player in the Sol faction, unless it's in self defense..
  • If you're part of the Sol faction, never attack anyone unless it's in self defense.
  • Pranking and surprise attacks as long as they are good-natured. If your "prank" caused a lot of damage, you might be banned.
  • Don't continue to attack people as they respawn - if someone surrenders, they've surrendered.
  • Try to spread out, as too many machines in one place can cause lag.
  • Don't hog all the resources - replant trees and don't demolish entire slime islands.
  • Don't hide the Mana Gear somewhere completely impossible, and don't destroy it. Don't capture it as a Sol member.
  • Don't edit or otherwise mess with the Observatory.
  • Don't deface the terrain too much - no exploding random spots!
  • Don't logout with the Mana Gear in your inventory.
  • Don't be an starfish. Don't be an idiot. It's that simple.

I'm pretty relaxed on most things, but if you directly break a rule or are just being an starfish on the server, I can and will ban you.

Joining the Server:
  • STEP 0: Read the thread carefully, especially the rules...
  • STEP 1: Download the FTB Launcher, if you don't already have it.
  • STEP 2: Create a profile to link FTB to your Minecraft account, if you haven't already.
  • STEP 3: Install the FTB Lite 3 pack (just click "Launch.")
  • STEP 4: Download and unzip this folder; it contains the additional mods on the server.
  • STEP 5: Using the "Edit Mod Pack" button at the top, find your FTB Lite 3 folder.
  • STEP 6: Copy the "minecraft" folder in Extra Mods.zip to the FTB folder - it should merge the folders.

should add computercraft pretty much no matter what

and something like industrialcraft/buildcraft

should add computercraft pretty much no matter what
I agree

and something like industrialcraft/buildcraft
Thermal Expansion and Thermal Dynamics are already part of the pack, so that's covered

timber
Possibly - if we add Thaumcraft or Tinker's Construct, then no, as it will upset those mods' balance.

the more ores mod
there are a lot of mods called that, please link the one you're referring to

i was refering to any mod that adds ores in general

i was refering to any mod that adds ores in general
Thermal Foundation does that, adding copper, tin, silver, lead, nickel, and platinum as well as various alloys of those, and sulphur
Metallurgy adds the most ores out of pretty much any mod, although most of them serve little purpose other than tools or armour so it's just going to make the server slower without really adding much to the gameplay other than cluttering up your inventory; some TF materials can be made into tools or armour

i'll be adding Applied Energistics Tinker's Construct, Thaumcraft, Botania, Chisel, and ComputerCraft to a poll; of course I'm taking more suggestions, but only the top 5 or so mods will be added to prevent bogging down the server

alright

stuff when you're adding a poll to an existing thread you can't increase max votes or enable vote changing
so I'm going to make a strawpoll later on when there are more suggestions

making the strawpoll now, I have the following mods: note that picking bigger mods will result in me adding fewer mods (the numbers are about how big the mod is):

edit: it's up
if nobody votes i'll just add the ones that I feel like

tough choice
elderIO has tons of useful utilities
but applied energistics is a savior of inventory management
hnghhngnhg

i'll have to go with AE

I decided on just adding both. Polls closed, I'm testing this mod combination to make sure it works.

The server is now open!

Pretty okay server, I'm at coords -380, 780.
