Author Topic: Rockstar raises price of GTA by $25 to circumvent Steam Summer Sale  (Read 3118 times)

Edit: They have reset the price but are now only offering the card edition on sale at $85. Thus the price will never go below $59.

So if charging full price for a 2.5 year old PC port isn't bad enough, they have pulled GTA 5 from the Steam Store, and replaced it with a DLC bundle that includes GTA Online Cash. Selling Pre-Purchase bonuses is a scummy move and doing it for the same price as the backers is just insulting. Now they are at $59.89, %30 off their "full price" of $85.

This is nothing but a scumbag cash-grab by a company who has already made the best selling game of this generation. Also because the "Shark Card" is used up instantly, this voids Steam Refunds.

And it doesn't look like it went very well for them.

The price was raised because of the additional free money card in the package. The base price of the game is unchanged. In addition, the game without the card is still up on the store for purchase at original price.

The dlc in the bundle will be instantly used and "alters the game", making you unable to refund the bundle according to the new guidelines.

... No. The price was raised so that they could go %30 off while maintaining the same price during the Steam Summer Sale.

yeah but you also get a cheap game with it too but uh
i didn't really expect this game to go on sale anytime soon anyway.

now im gonna feel bad about re-buying this game for the ps3... thanks a lot, rockstar

The price wasn't raised at all. The game was and has been sitting at 59.99$ for a while. The discount is the free 1mil$ in online money that comes with the purchase of the BUNDLE and not the base game. The base game hasn't been discounted.

I know countless people patiently waiting on the steam sale and then they pull this stuff
what the forget

its still the same price its just a discount when they add the shark card

is this against the terms of service on their end?

all you guys have to do is read and you'll see that other content is included. its not difficult
