Should I buy Scholar of the First Sin?

I don't have Dark Souls 2, but SotFS currently $24.99, opposed to Dark Souls 2's $39.99. I've played Dark Souls 1 for around 20 hours and I really like it, and I've heard if I've never played DS2, it's better to just skip to SotFS. Should I?

Imo I had dark souls 1 and 2 on console and played the heck out of them, and then skipped straight to sotfs when I got it for PC. From what I have played so far, skipping straight to sotfs is better
