The problem most people have with it is that they're trying to pass it off as a metriod: prime game when it has absolutely none of the core mechanics and retains absolutely no purpose of the rest of the metriod: prime series. If they had put a different title like "Metriod Federation Troops: Something" then nobody would be complaining.

I mean yeah it looks kind of bad, but I wouldn't sign a petition to get it canceled, what the hell kind of idea is that. Yeah the graphics look bad, but I wouldn't say they're up to N64 standards, but compared to games like Ironfall and Moon Chronicles yeah it looks like complete stuff in comparison.

Apparently it's named Metroid Prime because it takes place in the Metroid Prime Universe, even when the Metroid Prime games are apart of the same universe and timeline of Metroid in general?

I actually wasn't too irritated because of how it's something different. I have the feeling most people signing the petition were angry because it wasn't what they expected, and that being the sole reason isn't good enough. But my main concern is that it looks like an iPad game. Everything is blocky and poorly-textured, and I can't see it succeeded even disregarding the people expecting the same thing over and over again. It's being developed by a sketchy third-party studio with already two cancellations under its belt, and refusing to take advantage of the significant graphical upgrade the 3DS provides is a clear sign to me that this is the wrong console to release a game like this on.

We want another Metroid game. Not loving space soccer.

metroid prime is in it's own a spin-off on metroid
the standard metroid-type is a 2d sidescroller (that's why "metroid-vania" is a genre) while the prime series is a first person shooter type of series, that's why this is a prime series game

Prime is just more or less a 3D rendition of the 2D games, just with a different perspective. That and it doesn't deviate from the main timeline and/or exclude important elements from the 2D games. Pretty much it was a way of bringing the series into 3D without making it 2.5D.

I think the game looks fun, but if I didn't know what a Metroid was and saw this game, I'd get a completely different feel using this as my first Metroid, instead of, say, Metroid Prime or Super Metroid even.
