Author Topic: Who uploaded my stuff??  (Read 1583 times)

Did someone upload my weapons somewhere??? My friend's BL updater downloaded them to his game and DEGRADED them cause the uploaded ones war FAR out of date! Who the forget did it n how does one fix this stuff??

calm down, now

have you tried searching?

where do I search?? i didnt even know you could make the updater use your stuff!!

You'll get far better chances of an answer if you'd form coherent sentences. Please calm down.

Look... A friend opened his BL and the updater started updating my stuff supposedly..I NEVER uploaded them anywhere but my drop box and i wanna know who did this.

Did you include a version.txt file from another Add-on in yours?

Is your add-on named the same as another?

If you never uploaded them anywhere but your dropbox, it's literally not possible for anyone else to have them without some hackery stuff that I doubt anyone in this community is capable of.

no i did not

nope, not that i know of, and it was all my stuff not anothers

and im thinking someone snagged my old addons and decided to be helpful where it wasnt needed

what is the add-on?

or would you prefer to keep that private

Nobody could have just "snagged" one of your old add-ons unless you uploaded it to a public place, which dropbox is not. Even then, nobody would try to be helpful, and even moreso, they wouldn't have gone out of their way to include a versioning system.

it was posted here, it was my older halo pack stuff. all i know is i was informed of it happening, and im not happy about it. i JUST updated it n it needs to be THAT thats being distributed not old stuff. not to mention, i GREATLY prefer that ppl get it from my topic only

It was probably Greek2Me's Support_Updater.
It was to fix some add-ons with code that was faulty and causing crashes.
See the topic about it here.
Most specifically, Support_RaycastingWeapons had a bug and i suppose you had that in your pack too.
So someone told Greek to also update this and put it on the updater.
You can ask Greek to remove it from the updater by sending a PM and/or sticking a file in your add-on called "version.txt" with it's contents being like "version 999" or something similar.
That should help you.
We ran into the same issue with the MAS RailRifle add-on. :/

Just PM me the new version. I will release an update that gives everyone the new version and removes it from the updater.

Please see this topic for more information: http://forum.blockland.us/index.php?topic=272426.0

The goal was to fix add-ons that break default features of the game.

I'll happily work with you to work out bugs but  I'd prefer ppl asked me before they used it that way. If you take a look at the topic the new DL is available and I'll happily make any changes that may be needed if i can reasonably

Your add-on was breaking a game feature. We started updating other people's add-ons in an attempt fix what was literally a blight of broken code.

I'd like to be told about this... If modifications are gonna be done either I'm gonna do it or id like to oversee the process and be told of the changes. im 150% for fixing errors and conflictions, but i'd like to know when my stuff is being changed so it can stay current and well.. you get it
