Author Topic: is it looked down on to change your icon too much?  (Read 2134 times)

it's easier if you keep it the same, as people tend to associate avatars with names after a while

I've kept my old duck avatar for years, and only just changed it to the cat + duck recently in memory of my friend
probably going to keep it that way forever

Personally, I think you should pick one high-quality avatar that really embodies who you are, and stick with it. Most forumers recognize a person by their avatar so constantly changing it won't really help.

For example, I chose Toothless the dragon because I have a more laid back, fun-loving and goofy personality, just like Toothless, but can also be super serious when a situation requires it. I'm also a furry and a huge fan of the how to train your dragon series in general, so it's perfect for me.

I'm a kid now, I'm a squid now...?

A lot of people get used to peoples icons and start surfing based on peoples icons rather than their names to identify posters. It's quicker and doesn't require you to actually focus on the left part of the column, you can usually tell while reading.

So, it's nice to have an image associated with you for that. I don't have an avatar but that's only because I've been barred from changing my profile. Every once in a while I wish I could set one.

I always pretend you have one, yur my favv

given most people actually have one, and you're a legible typist, it still identifies you even without one because we can read your posts and see a blank space. it associates for me, at least.

It bugs me if I have the same avatar for too long.

I change it when ever I take a break and come back usually.

i don't mind, I found the avatar in probably going to keep though. I might change it here or there but this is my main one

what does my avatar say about me

I change it sometimes thinking I can animate a better one.

I don't really mind, but you should still try to keep with one.
My avatar acts kind of like a placeholder for now if I make/find a better one.

i change it about every month and a half, provided of course i have something good enough to make into an avatar

never changed, probably won't
rugrats is great eh
