Author Topic: Ellen Pao has resigned as Reddit CEO, Huffman to take back over  (Read 3322 times)

She was strongly against the core values that reddit was founded upon, and hence was not fit to be the CEO.

She fired an admin because they had cancer, or at least she supported the idea.

There are other things too, but I don't keep tabs on reddit that much.
Actually, it was Alexis who made the decision to fire that admin with cancer from what I understand.. I may be wrong there.

What is this about core values? Are you talking about free speech?

Again, I don't keep tabs on redidt often enough to know, but that's probably a part of it. I'm more of an imgur kinda guy. I'm just parroting. I've never heard about an "Alexis."

The past month or so I've just been seeing tribal and misogynist crap about her, people going way too far and attacking her. It was really gross.

Oh definitely, the anti-Pao movement is disgusting through and through. But still, glad to see Reddit may change course.

Reddit's still going to be gross. It'll just be more subtle. :/

Trying to paint the whole website as gross just because of a small group? How nice...

Reddit's a loving massive website lol. How gross do you think r/KerbalSpaceProgram or r/space or r/Terraria or whatever the forget is?

HOLY stuff YES

What if she was just used as a scapegoat by the other staff, now everyone is happy b/c she left but the changes will stay

I'm talking about the default subreddits, while it's a small group they're definitely the most vocal.. Just sort by new on the Ellen Pao resignation article comments. It's all "THANK GOD!!!! does this mean FPH will be unbanned?"

Reddit is an awesome website, but some of the community is really stuffty. I should have specified.

At the very least she supported all the bad changes, which is more than enough for me to want her gone. I have faith that the now-reinstated CEO will bring actual improvements, though if I'm wrong I'll definitely be admitting it.

She might have been. This statement was from Ellen's resignation
"the board asked me to demonstrate higher user growth in the next six months than I believe I can deliver while maintaining reddit’s core principles."

Imgur was made by a reddit user as a gift to the community

Regardless, it's a separate, sort of parallel community.
