Author Topic: Shall I create this clan?  (Read 1566 times)

I've been thinking about creating a clan where add-on makers can collaborate and make add-ons together depending on what they know or do, for example a person who makes 3D models could contact the clan to see if there is any coder in it interested to help with a project and someone says yes and it creates a new project, and the other way around, or people who works with events could contact builders, do you guys think I should create such clan? I believe this would move add-on development further and new things could be made.

Clans like this have been made before and always seem to die quickly because no one wants to work together.

Maybe because they were badly administrated, I'm thinking of a unique and fun way to create the clan.

And those that don't die are unproductive as forget

as long as you're dedicated to making add-ons

you'd also have to frequent the suggestions and requests board

eh, i guess you could try.

The main problem is it needs to be a constant stream of projects to keep motivation flowing. Requests come at random time frames so it would be impossible to make a request based clan and have it stay productive at the same time. The key to both is make sure the clan has a series of internal projects that it can work on at anytime to keep it productive in dry spells of project asks coming in. Really what it comes down to is that clans require a certain amount of dedication that players don't want to put in. The idea would work best as more of a general support group for projects with free lance members who can come and go at anytime. But as it is a blockland group of players the best place to put such a group would be clan discussion.

I would like to join this as a builder if you do make it. Might I suggest competitions? Players are given a task to complete ranging from finishing a project to beginning one and the winner who does the most spectacular job gets a reward? Such as bragging rights or a guarantee for help on any of there own projects. Of course the rewards would only be for non-official members.

I've always wanted to make 3D models that would actually be used. A clan like this would be good for me.

Yeah I need some motivation on projects anyways and I have alot of ideas from time to time.

I have a few projects to be worked on if I were to join
could benefit from the addition of models for weapons and better brick layouts

I could certainly benefit from this
I have no count for how many mods I have loose code running about with nothing pretty to represent it.

Id join as a coder. Need some models for CRPG...

I actually think, honestly, a 'guild' would actually fit more as a name for this idea.

Modification Guild of Blockland.

Thinking about it now this is a great idea for any contributors to the community, it would be really convinent aswell.

You should really make it Filipe, and yes the guild idea sounds really cool too.
