Author Topic: computer boots to black screen with cursor  (Read 820 times)

everytime I log onto my computer, it takes a while to load then it gives me a black screen where I can only use my mouse

I am using windows 8.1

help

remove the computer battery, but still have the charger plugged in, boot it up and it should work, then shut it down, put battery back and it'll be fine. or i hope so

use salt on battery
it will stabilize the electrolites in your machine

If you're using a laptop you can put it in a microwave to electrify the dead electrolites making the power supply work functionally

Real talk: It's probably time to reinstall your copy of windows, if that doesn't work then it's probably time to buy a new laptop.

try pressing F12 or whatever your BIOS key is during boot, then select your harddrive
it worked for me when it did that

Wtf? I'm going to point towards either the HDD is forgeted or Windows is corrupted. Though if the mouse is working, it's most likely the OS is gone.

See if you can Ctrl Alt Del and if explorer.exe is running. If not then boot into safemode by hitting F8 repeatedly while your PC starts and do a system restore.

To start, attempt to boot into Safe Mode by rapidly pressing F8 when your computer is starting.  If Windows starts in Safe Mode, attempt a System Restore, or uninstall any recently installed softwares and drivers.
