Author Topic: Computer Graphics Tablet + Art Programs  (Read 1456 times)

I want to begin drawing on Inkscape using a graphic tablets, have any recommendations? I'm not going to try and blow too much money, I'll find a better one later if I really get into digital graphics more.

Requirements:
$60 or less
Medium sized, nothing too small or too large.

Also, any free drawing/animation/photo manipulation programs you use or recommend?

I'm no expert but drawing in a vectoring program doesn't seem right

Some of the stuff you can do with vector art is amazing if you know what you're doing

I have one of these laying around that hasn't been used in forever: http://www.amazon.com/Wacom-CTH461-Bamboo-Craft-Tablet/dp/B002OOWC42

Practically unused since I gave up on ever having artistic ability. I was going to sell it on Ebay, but I've been lazy. I'll sell it to you for $50 + shipping (Same I was going to charge on Ebay)

It comes with keys and a disk for Photoshop Elements 7 and some Corel Paintshop program.

Fire Alpaca is a good free painting program.

paint tool sai is a really good program

there were a few sales on monoprice tablets too for 50

I've heard that a program called black ink is really good.

Might be a bit late but what ever:
The tablet pecon is selling is alright but if you're unable to purchase it pls notify us
For programs, here's a list of freeware that pretty much everyone uses afaik:
http://www.getpaint.net/index.html
P basic, essentially a better mspaint with actual image editing features and plugins
http://firealpaca.com/en
like paint.net but aimed towards animu/mango artists or really any artist who doesn't need any particularly fancy tools.
https://www.sumopaint.com/home/
Browser based plus downloadable. P much the same as the two above but you can use it on a browser so there's that.
http://painttool-sai.en.softonic.com/
my sister uses this occasionally and from what I know it's basically photoshop but less refined and some features are tricky to use.
http://www.gimp.org/
photoshop that was made to run like butter in linux and ported to windows p much. NOT FOR THE FAINT OF HEARTS. this is really potent but you must have some good knowledge on how brushes work and how to fully utilize all the tools, because otherwise it's really unimaginative/artist unfriendly.
https://krita.org/
specifically made for drawing, has alot of features and is also really artist friendly unlike gimp. you can even add resources/packs conveniently with a unique bundle system.
only downside is that there's not much tutorials outside of the ones in the homepage and it's kind of resource intensive.

I own this exact tablet, can confirm it's not too bad.

that seems extremely reasonable to me
vector art > raster art
