Author Topic: Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain/Ground Zeroes discussion  (Read 3476 times)

Didn't see a thread anywhere else on here for this, so ergo.

I'm not going to go through the hassle of posting a ton of information of the Metal Gear Series (oh lordy the plot would take days).

Pretty much, just discuss what you'd like to see, hate to see, and what we've already seen here!

In my opinion atleast it was a good game, but you're right on it being too short, but I'm glad that they gave us a litl ol taste of what's in store of TPP.

(Not counting MGR) the only Metal Gear game I've played was Portable and Metal Gear Solid for PS1 when I was 7-9.

Other than that...I've mostly experienced Metal Gear through fan animations and mentions from LPs.

The issue is that if I forget up even once in the slightest way, I just rage quit and restart from the last point where I was.  If it becomes too much of a problem, I just drop the game for months, even years until I feel like taking on what ever challenge was halting my progress.

damn, thats a shame :c

But don't get me wrong, MGS definitely requires patience and time. And honestly the only MGS game I've ever played is Ground Zeroes, but otherwise I've done the same with LP's and whatnot. But I practically know the entire plot think and through so I'd say it's not necessary for me to play the past games.

I think when I first played MGS, I might have had some idea that "being seen by the bad guy is not good" and got to a certain extent in the game.  I think I got stuck at grid like room with trap floors that could instantly kill you.

I kinda hate the instant alerts in the MGSGZ. One marine spots me in the middle of nowhere, yells "CONTACT!" and the entire base goes into a frenzy. In MGS2 getting spotted wasn't an instant alert IIRC. The guards actually had to radio in that there was an intruder, giving you time to take out the guards before an alert was raised.

That feature is in GZ too y'know, with the Reflex sequence activating, it does the slow motion stuffa and then you can pew pew them in the head. And if a guard sees you from a distance in GZ (but still close enough to radio it in), you can kill him before he radios it in just like MGS2.

Otherwise though, the Reflex mode is gon get interesting in PP, considering that if you have Quiet as your buddy she can pew pew them for you, and look hot and stuff.

I was so confused around that age, and then life happened and took all video games (except a few PS2 games) away from me.

One of the focuses of MGSV is being a little more realistic and less contrived, ie. enemies don't just forget you exist after you killed forty of them because they couldn't see you for two minutes. This is just naturally more difficult to play through, but it makes a hell of a lot more sense.
And guards still have to radio for a high alert to go off. One guys yells, and someone who hears him calls it in; you have to find that guy. You can also disable all of their radios. Or, like, just not get spotted. That might work best.

And not to mention, they're also making sure that when you are spotted that it doesn't feel like the entire world is crumbling and that you have to load back to a checkpoint or whatever. Any mission can be taken on in any way you want to (within the games boundaries of possibility).
