Ya, like one guy I told him to open, "My Documents," and he was clueless.
Ask him if he thinks steam is a virus

sad
You don't want to know the nightmare that was getting them to ssh into a Linux server using Putty.

What did you do when there was more than one file in a directory?
it renamed those files infected too.

"whats an ip"

edit: though I hope you were nice and walked them through it

No filesystems actually allow you to do that. All file names inside a directory have to be unique to one another.

some handicaps name icons from the desktop to something stupid like My documents is getting changed to my research n stuff.

When I was in high school I used a VPN to bypass the blockers so I could access the forums and YouTube.
3 kids at my school did that but they got caught somehow.

In high school we openly used Tor and even distributed it and instructions (for the idiots) around school to get around the broken filter system. IT guys didn't give a stuff because technically they were fulfilling their obligation.

Once, a virus spread like hell, the PCs kept hanging or lossing 50 %/ 90% of the core files (System 32), then I found some file that was spreading through the network and would run on startup and self-delete system32, it was named killpc.bat or some stuff, and there was also stop.exe, which disabled the mouse, I disabled the school network when I found out that is was spreading via VPN

my school had really stupid internet
if you were using chrome and you went on a site like http://youtube.com
it would block it
but if you typed https://youtube.com
it worked
