just letting you know this thread is going to go downhill real quick

like he didnt know that lol why does anyone make these threads

Was raised C of E and was a religious believer as a child.
Then came to consider myself atheist.
Now I consider myself as agnostic.

I don't believe there is a theist god with his hand at play in our world, whether he is behind every single event in the universe or simply intervenes at times (often in the form of miracles).
This is because I can't scientifically verify that a supposed god is the cause of specific events.

The reason I am agnostic rather than atheist however is because I can't concretely explain the existence of the universe.
There is currently no way to prove that the universe just came into existence of its own or no-ones accord.
Equally there is no way to prove that a god created the universe.

Until I can be certain one way or the other there is no point in me insisting that one explanation for the universe is true over another.
As far as I am concerned I am agnostic until that truth is revealed or until I die, at which point I'll know if there is a god/afterlife if I pass into one.

because there isn't any proof he exists, but there isn't any proof he DOESN'T exist either

As for me I hardly think so and the argument for an existing God is just as good (if not better) as what science proposes our origins came from.

I'll start off with the argument that God does not exist. Most atheists believe that something (the universe) was created from nothing (or from some other mass) in the Big Bang and everything took billions of years to get the way it is today. The theory of life forming was through the formation of amino acids in the oceans (or through further unbelievable things like life arriving on earth by meteorite). However, we have never been able to create life as far as I know through our advanced methods of science, but somehow, it was supposed to happen multiple times over Earth's long history all by itself. It's apparently a very repetitive occurrence, especially since every time we find a planet similar to earth everyone suspects that life either was there or could exist.

The argument for God creating the universe is difficult to sum up in one paragraph. Just like the "scientific" (in quotes because many say Creationism doesn't apply science) version, everything was created from nothing. Although many creationists try to claim the Big Bang didn't happen, wouldn't the sudden creation of light in the phrase "Let there be light" seem like a Big Bang in a place only seen with total darkness? Both views also seem to claim that something was always existing in the time before everything was created, which means that the concept of time had no definite beginning. God is infinite with no beginning or end. Likewise, the mass before the Big Bang (if it existed) would've had to begin somewhere or else the concept of infinity still applies. If mass cannot be created or destroyed, it would either have to be created anyway or have always been there for an infinite amount of time before the Big Bang. For God creating life, assuming he created the universe, it would be totally possible. He created humans to be a companion for him in his likeness.

gnostic atheism #1
science bless

well that about sums up my feelings exactly on the matter

so really, with every fact and observation in consideration, the only real reason for believing in creation or evolution is whether or not you want to believe in a god.

"An expanding universe does not preclude a creator..."  ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Gnostic atheist, remove theists from premises

I'm just plain agnostic. Since there's no physical evidence of a god (At least none that currently exists, the bible doesn't count) and there's no way to disprove a god, one cannot reasonably expect to know with absolute scientific certainty that there is or isn't a god.

EDIT: Also, claiming something can't be proven wrong isn't a reason to believe in it. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Argument_from_ignorance

All I know is that humans having to go to hell because theyre not perfect doesnt make sense.

You're right. It doesn't.

God didn't say that.
