It was fun before but I'm not too excited about modding, mainly because I've never played with mods before, don't know how to install them, and the subject of the mods also puts me off.

yeeaaaahhh. I prefer vanilla too because the most popular mods never seem to really fit with the game.

we used the technic launcher so that you wouldn't need to
just install it, run it and click voltz and it will install it automatically for you

also it's not a game changer, you can still play vanilla without using anything the mods offer if you so wish

a lot of mods kinda seek to change the way you look at the game though. ultimately everything is still operating from the same basic game but the ends and the means are diff. i like using mods because the base game doesn't fully use its mechanics in ways that bring out what i like about minecraft. factory mods like IC2, buildcraft, mekanism, etc. offer that and more, especially when you tinker around with how these mods react with others. modpacks are awesome because they bring out the best the game has to offer within their scope and supplement those elements with appropriate content

thus ends the late night ravings of a person that played a video game once or twice

Okay cool. Where do I install/save it? As in a link

http://www.technicpack.net/download

Save it anywhere, its the base launcher

it'll create .technic files in your appdata

Once you have it, login with your minecraft account

The "Modpacks" tab is hidden by plants because of their gay new pack and they're trying to be fancy

TO DOWNLOAD VOLTZ:

first download the technic lawnchair:
http://www.technicpack.net/download

go to the modpacks list, then to the search bar

download the one named voltz.

it should work. please report if you have any problems, i might be able to help.

I'm trying to join from the voltz launcher but it's telling me I've got a bad login.
And on the regular launcher I'm now getting 'java.io.IOException: An existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host'

that bad login error is weird
make sure your regular launcher isnt open and only the voltz client is, or try restarting the voltz client

Try logging out, then back in

so is the server gonna be running on voltz for a while or will it switch?

Dunno why they decided to start using the pack that got the least votes on the poll :(

I just wanted computercraft

(And no, I don't think that having people install computercraft manually into voltz is a good idea. I am sure a few people would be put off of joining because of that extra hurdle)

voltz did have the most votes before the server went up

it seemed to have spiked after

ya'll brothers too late, its voltz now :)

I would quite rather use a modpack with a lot of things in it rather than one with barely anything in it just to use computercraft, unless you have another suggestion that isn't tekkit lite
