Is catnip like cocaine for cats?

whenever I give my cat catnip she freaks the hell out and it's like she's doing cocaine. is this supposed to happen. I emailed the catnip company and they informed me that they did not put LSD or cocaine in their products, but i doubt them

Apparently every cat reacts to it differently. It can be like marijuana, LSD (minus the hallucinogenic properties), or it won't affect them at all. They also build up a tolerance to it if exposed to it often enough.
