JVS is old, and a low quality addon.  I have many many legacy doors that work just fine, doing the same thing that JVS does.

You should make a 24/7 Themed Freebuild with Terrain Freebuild Rules. That would be much more interesting.
(Maybe city or pirate, for example.)

I would if I knew how.  If you want to help me set it up I could definitely do that. 

Doing that is very simple. Just follow these two steps/rules:
1. Set up some sort of spawn/center that tells people what the theme and terrain rules are.
2. Use this add-on to enforce building on 64x64 base plates aligned with the existing grid.
Although, if you do that, it will honestly be more of a block party rather than a free build.
