Im okay with jokes being made about stuff rom hundred years ago, but nothing less. There still people around who were alive at the time when things like 9/11 and pearl harbor happened. Just because you can't relate to those events doesn't mean other people can't. If you think otherwise I dare you to walk up to someone who lost family to the Twin Towers/Pentagon attack and look them in the eyes and a 9/11 joke.
This attitude is bullstuff. Just because someone might be offended by what you say doesn't mean that you shouldn't say it. Walking up to someone who lost family in 9/11 and making a 9/11 joke is wrong because you knew that they'd get offended, but did it anyway. But if you're in a group of people and you make a 9/11 joke, and someone you didn't know lost family in 9/11 got upset, that's really a personal problem for them. There was no way you could have known they'd get upset.
This is the same attitude that promotes the plague that is political correctness.
