Dozens of people have been injured in a huge explosion at a container port where flammable material was being stored in the northern Chinese city of Tianjin.

The explosion, which created a huge mushroom cloud and caused a quake that could be felt up to six miles away, was reportedly caused by explosive material in a container at a terminal in Binhai Dist.

It is not immediately clear whether anyone was killed.

The explosion in Tianjin erupted at a container port where flammable material was being stored, reported CCTV, China's state-owned broadcaster. The broadcaster said some firefighters were hurt.

The state-run Xinhua news agency reported that a nearby hospital had received more than 50 patients.

• Explosion was caused by a flammable material (or explosives) in a shipping container.
• 700+ hospitalized. 104 confirmed dead.
• This was one huge explosion. Quake was felt up to 6 miles away, and residents claim it broke glass/windows, and fish tanks. Nearby buildings and infrastructure are also damaged.
