Dozens of people have been injured in a huge explosion at a container port where flammable material was being stored in the northern Chinese city of Tianjin.

Three or four hundred people arrived at the Tianjin harbour hospital after the blast, some in ambulances and some on their own, the Beijing News reported, quoting an unnamed medic who works there.
There's some differences in the articles, I'm looking into this and I'll get the right info organized here.


Here's the latest info that I've found.
  • The explosion occurred at 11:30pm local time, in Tianjin, China.
  • Explosion was caused by a flammable material (or explosives) in a shipping container.
  • 700+ hospitalized. 104 confirmed dead.
  • This was one huge explosion. Quake was felt up to 6 miles away, and residents claim it broke glass/windows, and fish tanks. Nearby buildings and infrastructure are also damaged.

i'm not sure how much i'm willing to trust the state's figures, but i don't know their policy on transparency

I wonder if this was just a freak accident or if it was perpetrated by a terrorist organization

Right now I'm placing my bets it's just a freak accident.


More than likely this was an accident, but CIA will probably try to take the blame for it.
