Georges might be needing a new phone

So I have a Moto G, and I finally got service for it today. My mom tried calling me, and she had a hard time hearing me. I suspect it's the mic, because this phone doesn't really work with any kind of voice commands or anything very well (even though it used to).  My warrenty is out, so it l'm going to do some testing, but I think I'm going to need a new phone soon. I really want a Moto X 2nd gen, but it is on the pricey side at $299.

Anyone have any suggestions? I'd like to stay away from the Moto G 3rd gen, seeing as it barely has better specs than what I have now (except for the camera and an optional extra gig of RAM).

I'm looking at the Asus Zenphone 2 (2 gigs, not 4). Anyone have any experience with it?

Galaxy s4 or s3 wouldnt be too bad if you are on a budget.

i love the G2 and G3 - i have a G3 currently and want to upgrade to a G4 - but the back of the phone gets really hot when the phone's under stress. especially if you put it in your pocket on a warm day... ugh, my leg gets soaked in sweat. amazing phone otherwise, but that's my chief complaint.

with my case its almost impossible to push so ive been using double tap to wake; screen brightness is fine though, i didnt notice it being too dim or too bright.
