You guys realize you can turn the privacy thingy off in the privacy settings?

How about you, the person leveling claims that Windows 10 is secretly gobbling up mountains of data on its users, actually support said claims with a reputable source?

Cortona forces you to allow location, even though you use a desktop PC that will not be moved for years...

Also:
the one that doesn't take your picture
What if you don't have a webcam plugged in?

...that's if you're stupid enough to put all of this information on your computer.
People shouldn't have to be afraid to put personal and sensitive data on their computers.

Cortona forces you to allow location, even though you use a desktop PC that will not be moved for years...

I don't use that. I disable location and all of that other "Privacy sending stuff".

They don't even mention where the emails are coming from. They could be grabbing it from the browser for all you know. That's the big thing: You don't know what they do with your data, and you have no control over it.

Many people have a "Better safe than sorry" attitude on life, some people simply prefer their own privacy. Some have secrets that they need to protect. That's their perogative. I'm not trying to force anyone here to not upgrade if they don't want to, I'm simply allowing people to better inform themselves so they can make a decision. I'm stating the facts. If you don't like the facts, that's not my problem.
You're not posting facts, you're posting what you assume are facts.

Unfortunately the excerpt I posted can not be disabled. Not only does it not mention whether or not you can disable it, but if you look at the mobile version of their privacy policy ( http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/mobile/privacy/privacy/policy/privacy-policy/ ) you'll see that it has the exact same statement right after the words "Mandatory disclosures." Mandatory as in non-optional. Required.

You're not posting facts, you're posting what you assume are facts.
I'm posting what I have found on their official website, on their official privacy policy. If what Microsoft has chose to put in there isn't facts, I don't know what is.

I don't use that. I disable location and all of that other "Privacy sending stuff".
Yeah, but if you really really want to use Cortona, Cortona is like "Oh, I want to send a S.W.A.T team to your house, so please give me the location of your DESKTOP PC!!!

There is also sorts of stuff besides embarrassing information, research, and criminal stuff that is worth protecting like legal documents, case notes, financial records for companies, blue prints, documents, cases, shipping manifests, anything. Might not be valuable to you, but its valuable to someone else or someone who wants it.

Maybe I'm some small time inventor working on a game console. The blue prints aren't done and the design hasn't been patented yet. However some guy finds an exploit in the OS and steals my blue prints or Microsoft steals it and uses ideas for their new xbox and then patents it before I can. Hell, that how windows started in the first place was stealing ideas from Apple before they could patent them.

You know they could just use ip right?

You know they could just use ip right?
My IP thinks I'm a few cities over, so nah.

They are capable, they've done it before and compromised accounts on PSN and Xbox live (MICROSOFT OWNED COUGH COUGH) They also hacked Malaysia airlines
What reason would they have to secure their xbox live servers with the same amount of security as those with all the personal data of billions of users? Alright look at it this way: what reason would they have to NOT encrypt all of this personal data with robust encryption (RSA-2048)

Well first off you didn't read that correctly at all. My concern is for the data of small businesses getting stolen. Second of all, not giving them the details doesn't work if they keep setting up programs and applications in products that collect loving data genius. You're missing the point. The fact is they still have the ability to access data when they want for any reason. Thats a right companies shouldn't have.
Again: Encryption.
How would they access this data if the near entirety of employees do not have the private keys?
Quite recently a virus impersonated Microsoft-signed drivers to be able to get into your system and infect it, being completely undetectable to antiviruses. That's an impersonation, and that's just the tip of the iceberg of what hackers can do. They're constantly getting smarter and smarter, and I can guarantee you whatever system Microsoft has in place is just as crackable as that.

The fact that people have the ability to personally stalk without you knowing has nothing to do with the fact that Microsoft can spy on you when you willingly install their software on your machine. Posting that excerpt allows people to make the decision of whether or not to upgrade for themselves in much the way that if you knew who was stalking you, you could call the police on them.

Again: you're executing this code manually as a user. This isn't hard to pull off when you're executing said file. If hackers are so capable then why aren't they so widespread and why haven't way more companies been hacked yet?

Unless you don't know they're even stalking you in the first place. Besides I was making the argument that your "personal" info isn't as personal as you think.
And you know they wont do something bad with the data. Why would they?
Also, to me you're stating opinions, not facts.

There is also sorts of stuff besides embarrassing information, research, and criminal stuff that is worth protecting like legal documents, case notes, financial records for companies, blue prints, documents, cases, shipping manifests, anything.

This is the fifth time i've stated this: Why would they do something bad with the information? It's encrypted for a good reason.

If they do this and get caught in even the smallest of ways then there are huge punishments. And apple patented a lot of the stuff before microsoft even tried. Apple was just being ridiculous.
If you're worried about microsoft stealing your blueprints then just switch to linux or something.

And you know they wont do something bad with the data. Why would they?
Let's just leave the doors to our homes unlocked because people don't get robbed. Everyone is a moral goody-two shoes the world is so safe!
