Author Topic: Old PC doesn't want to boot  (Read 1249 times)

So I gave my old-ish pc to my sister and whenever I turn it on it gives a black screen with a flashing underscore.
I tried entering boot menu but it displays "Please wait..." forever.
Than I tried entering setup but that also just gives a black screen.
Help based BLF.

are you not getting a boot screen or motherboard menu before it does this

Was thinking the same.
I get the boot screen from my motherboard (not the windows boot screen or whatever), but I can't acces the motherboard menu.

Found precision screwdrivers in the garage.

Its a year or 2 old. Its actually p modern.
Anyways I succesfully removed the HDD. I think.
Now what?

remove the psu, cover it in butter and salt water.
this will awaken the electrolites in the computer allowing it to run once again

I think the idea was to just boot it up with the drive removed and see what happens.

My personal bet on this is a dead motherboard.

Yes, YES!
I fix!
I changed the boot order in bios and that somehow fixed it!
