are you serious setro, or are you just trying to be an idiot?

It's like Setro hasn't read any posts about loud ignorant minority vs quiet well-informed majority.

Not surprising at all.
sadly because i haven't seen any feminists act like that
i'll start treating feminism nicely when i see people actually carrying out the true meaning of it

this 'minority' you're speaking of seems to be becoming bigger every day
Vocal minorities still end up representing their movement. It doesn't take a lot of "kill all men" tangents to sour people's mood, and making the fine line between the two sort of characters less broad.
^this was the point i've been trying to make

read the topic nerdbag and you'll see plenty in just this tiny thread probably

there is a huge difference between a feminist and a feminational socialist.

Vocal minorities still end up representing their movement. It doesn't take a lot of "kill all men" tangents to sour people's mood, and making the fine line between the two sort of characters less broad.

It's really unfortunate, too. I believe there are still a lot of social issues left to be tackled in the western culture. I don't mean to be preachy but the fact that feminational socialists rile people up so much and I'm guilty of being riled up too means people still have a lot to get over before we address the real elephants in the room.

this 'minority' you're speaking of seems to be becoming bigger every day
It seems that way because they're louder. There are a lot of people trying to do good in the right places. But they're just getting a bad rep because of the dumbasses saying dumb stuff (as pictured in setro's post), on top of dumbasses on the other side slandering the entire idea in general (setro).

Ike is talking about the same ''''minority'''' I was.

the internet is a megaphone for obnoxious people

just don't let the vocal minority change how you feel about the real issue

I kinda wanna say something other than "vocal minority" now because it's starting to feel redundant lol

what is the 'real issue' you so speak of that modern feminism seems to be tackling?

this 'minority' you're speaking of seems to be becoming bigger every day

This is probably because you're surrounded by people just as outraged over the minority of the movement as you are. This creates a bubble effect where it seems as if there's way more incidents than there actually are.

Take /r/tumblrinaction for example. If you frequent it, you get a taste of the bad side of tumblr. If you have had no previous interaction with the website tumblr besides what you see on tumblrinaction, it's only natural that you assume the entirety of tumblr must be like that. The reality of the situation is that you're just seeing a stupid, stuffty corner of a gigantic diverse community. Feminational socialists contrasted against feminism are the same way.

what is the 'real issue' you so speak of that modern feminism seems to be tackling?

I wasn't really talking about anything they've been doing lol

let me phrase that differently:
i don't believe any feminist truly thinks that women = men
it's just an opinion.

the thing i have a problem with is that feminism is not a group. it's a concept. the way it affects people is consequential; asserting that it's invalid because of the way some people express it isn't a sound way to judge its worth. the same can be said for religion, politics, etc. because they all function in the same way. a body of ideas is created and expanded, and people absorb and express those ideas individually in unique ways, and eventually, it probably becomes part of culture.

i don't find it a compelling argument against feminism (or x idea) when people say, "look at this guy who was a real jerk," because him being a jerk is completely irrelevant to the ideas at hand. that's an issue with ol' buddy guy's personality, not a problem with his source of inspiration.

you're making a (very bold and broad) claim and will be expected to substantiate it

That's not an opinion, it's your belief that you think to be fact. Spoiler alert: you are wrong.

Well no, everyone is biased. It's an us vs. them sort of mentality that everyone has. Some have it more muted than others. This doesn't reflect what the movement is about, though.

He's telling you to not focus too hard on the vocal minority because it will warp your view of the bigger picture.

they don't think women are men wtf are you talking about?
