Games? Off Topic? It's a movie about a game, I dunno.

Avi and Ari Arad (known for the Spiderman and Iron Man movies) are reportedly producing a Borderlands movie for Lionsgate.

We all know how movies based on games tend to turn out...but Tales from the Borderlands is like 95% video, 5% game and it's pretty awesome, so I'm hopeful. As long as it doesn't turn out like the Halo movie.

Hmm, interesting.
Thing is Borderlands makes good use of its art style, and that would be hard to recreate/lacking in a live action film, and could result in some awkward CGI.

If it was a fully animated movie that looks like the game then that could be great, especially given TellTale's success with it. But if they do it like that then I do not want a retelling of Borderlands 1/1.5/2.
And even though they're hoping to capitalise on an inbuilt audience that doesn't mean they won't do the 'origin(al)' story.
After all, Spidermanh as a massive inbuilt audience but each time they keep doing his origin story.

theres also a sly cooper movie

and I think a Warthunder one

The 5% was being generous, as far as I'm concerned QTEs and choosing preset dialog options are components of a visual novel and aren't classified as "gameplay"

Tales from the Borderlands has a fantastic story, and I'm more excited to find out what happens in the final episode than anything right now, but it's no more than an interactive TV series which is why I drew the parallel to this upcoming movie

The IMDb pages for Avi and Ari also have Uncharted and Metal Gear Solid movies listed as future productions
