WHAT THE HELL IS THIS?

Welcome to Nonnel's Nation RP: East vs West! In this installment, you'll be joining the world stage right after World War II, at the beginning of a long cold war between the two great atomic superpowers, The United States of America, and the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics. You will be either be playing as the top dogs or as their faithful (or not so faithful) underlings. Upon joining, you have the choice to support one of the great powers or be independent of them. Looking up to a superpower will grant you faster technological innovation and better industrial pace, but you will not be able to befriend any country of an opposing ideology.


How do I join?
Simple, just pick a country and make a post! You can start roleplaying right away, you don't need to wait for me to update. You can pick any country except the Soviet Union (until 1950.) Trust me, it's easy!


What can I do exactly?
Upon posting, you become the ruler of your nation. You control all forms of national government. You command your military, diplomats, and any other federal shenanigans you can think of. Trade, ally, war, whatever with your surrounding nations and the nations of the world. You can change your government as you like, but be aware that your citizens as well as your allies might not appreciate your changes. Changing your entire government system within a day is sure to cause rioting or even a full-out revolution. With great power comes great responsibility; play wisely.

TECHNOLOGIES
An integral part of the Cold War was, of course, technology! Throughout the RP you will be able to research different technologies which will make different parts of your nation more efficient as time goes on. Tier 1 will be available to research right away, Tier 2 in 1955, Tier 3 in 1965, and Tier 4 in 1975. The greatest nations of the planet (The US and USSR, the UK, France, and China) will be able to research two technologies at a time (and begin with T1 techs) while the rest of the world will only be able to research one. Lucky for the little guys, though, the superpowers will be able to share their technologies with other nations of the same ideology at whatever price they wish. There is a five-year cooldown on use of any individual espionage tech. Research time is 1 year (or two days)

UNITED NATIONS PROPOSALS

The war is over, and we won! After World War II, the Allies created a United Nations to bring peace to the world. Any country in the UN will be able to propose their own ideas. These can include (but are not limited to) ceasefires, WMD bans, embargoes, independence votes, proposals to send peacekeepers wherever, or any other sort of stuff you can think of (and of course votes to repeal anything enacted in these proposals) which will make the world more peaceful, whatever that is by your standards. The Big Five, who purposely gave themselves more power in the United Nations, have given themselves the power to veto, which will be restricted to once per year, for gameplay reasons. The proposing country will be picked at random, unless specifically stated otherwise.

RULES

1. Use common sense. No godmodding, powergaming, what-have-you.
2. Don't be an ass. This includes, but is not limited to, being an starfish, dumbassery, and even asshats.
3. Tech up along with the year.
4. Don't go to war with someone who has just joined.
5. Do not RP for other nations, you mongoloids.
6. If you attack someone, wait for them to respond before continuing your attack.
7. You may not sell more than 25% of your land. You may let satellite states of yours become independent.
8. Rule 8.
9. No nuclear war.
10. No bypassing the rules so you can have a gigantic meganation.
11. You may not leave your country worse than you found it. (As in, don't start a catastrophe in your country then switch to a different nation.)
12. Covert actions may be done via PM to me. Please use this as opposed to Steam messaging.
