OBS (Open Broadcaster Software) not working on Windows 8.1

I can't get OBS to record my screen on Windows 8.1. Every time I try, I just end up recording a black screen. It's not recording any sound either. Despite this, OBS tells me it's recording sound when running, but when I go to check the file, it's just a black screen with no sound.

Anyone able to help?
