Grand Theft Auto 1 & 2 now considered abandonware?

I decided to take a trip to myabandonware and then I found GTA 1 & 2 on the list...



You can still purchase the game but for some reason this is here? If this is piracy, I'll lock the thread and hopefully notify Rockstar about this... (implying if they even care.)

Rockstar Games put it up for a free download one time so it's probably abandonware. Can't confirm this but according to my resources, it looks like it's free.

My guess is mixed, I'm not sure really.
Rockstar used to originally give those 2 games out for free along with Wild Metal on their Rockstar Classics page:

Unfortunately their page has been "unavailable" for over a year now, which isn't a good sign.

So that means the mystery is solved. Grand Theft Auto 1 & 2 are abandonware. But I'd still watch out for announcements.
