I went to a rural school that had some well off suburbs in-district so gangs were never an issue. Now at university drug dealing was rampant and several of the non university sanctioned frats were known drug trafficking and prostitution rings.

do you get expelled if you wear a hoodie and/or are black

no hoodies, no hats, no bandannas if they aren't for supporting your hair.

Besides that, no tattoos.

one of my teachers has a tattoo

apparently we can't wear any sports hats or jerseys but i saw several teachers wearing them today so i guess that's fine now.
basically gangs over here name themselves after sports teams and to be safe they don't let people wear sports things.

Aw forget man, when I was in middle school (about 2005-07) my friend got in trouble because he had a red bandanna. In. His. loving. Backpack. (FWI the bandanna was in there because he was doing a class project. I'm voting strict.)

I thought the super heavy handed approach never worked at all back then and I still think zero tolerance does not work. These schools go to great lengths to crack down on something that might not be happening is pretty absurd.

Having a drug town go around a quiet campus just to catch that one girl who brought a single ibuprofen, or suspending the kid who brought a plastic butter knife simply because its knife, or calling the police and suspending a kid who brought scissors for art class. I mean it is just overkill, and most of the "problems" aren't really problems at all.

I would have been shocked to find out that even a single person at my highschool was a gang member.

pretty much the entire school is black. but you arent allowed to wear earbuds, hoods, hats, gloves, sunglasses, etc etc

Never an issue in my school. Maybe because it's not in the "safest" neighborhood in Buenos Aires or so to say...

We have metal detectors and kids are subject to random searches. We are also prohibited from bringing food into or out of the building. Any gang activity is met by actual armed officers.
