Today is the 256th day of the year!

what does this mean i am not smart

happy national kids take over the kitchen day

wouldn't programmers' day also be the 8th, 16th, 32nd, 64th... etc days of the year?

Happy arbitrary number day!
256 is divisible by 8, which is big in programming. For the most part it is arbitrary though considering as General said they could have used the others as well

The number 256 (28) was chosen because it is the number of distinct values that can be represented with an eight-bit byte, a value well-known to programmers. 256 is also the highest power of two that is less than 365, the number of days in a common year.

The fact that it's divisible by 8 doesn't matter, it's that it's a power of 2

Today is the 256th day of the year!

wouldn't it be the 255th day because arrays start with 0

Well then, I need to sharpen up in that case.

No, because

Well then, I need to sharpen up in that case.No, because

ah, thanks

also

1 == 4

wouldn't it be the 255th day because arrays start with 0
256 values is important, not the number 255
the zero-indexed thing isn't even universal
