Author Topic: What does the BLF think of MineCraft and it's community?  (Read 1905 times)

The game MineCraft is really popular, so I want to see what you think.
I know there is a topic about Minecraft already, so I'll just not explain what it is.
Please tell me, if you want to, why it sucks and maybe some cringe

IMO: It's a bad "game", it should be put to rest, youtubers and stores see it as a money-making machine, so kids will buy whatever is popular in MineCrap.
This guy and his greedy antics.

minecraft youtube channels are no
the community regarding the youtube channel is i don't know

It's a pretty good game. Too many people are ripping on it for being popular at this point, you never heard any of these "money-making machine" complaints before. Yeah, of-loving-course it's a money making machine. So is literally every other videogame you've ever played sans a few.

The online community ranges from pretty alright to downright atrocious. MC youtubers are annoying as hell, but if it pays the bills it pays the bills.

It's like a five nights at freddy's sort of thing.
Game itself is fine, but the community is stuff

The forum community from my memory was pretty bad.
Reported bug.
Got insults flung at me, among claims that Notch coded said bug to be a feature.
Bug gets fixed next update.
Silence.

can't find a vanilla server that starts with full iron tools and 64 steaks. PVP is all you'll get nowadays. Griefing isn't even possible on servers that advert griefing as allowed.

It has the third largest and first most-visited thread on the forum, that should be a good start to what people here think

It's a fun game that's easily moddable, allows for a lot of freedom, and keeps me coming back every couple months

Community-wise, I would never play online again unless it was with people I know, and I am quite content playing alone

As for video content, I still pay attention to several members of Mindcrack on YouTube because most of them haven't resorted to clickbait video titles, reaction thumbnails, and overacting

Yes this
I would love vanilla servers because even if it's a richard thing to do, sneaking around and blowing up stuff and setting fire to stuff whilst not being caught and putting the blame on others and have them get killed feels so good

It's a great game, both on its own and as a platform for mods. I don't begrudge it its popularity one bit.

I'm indifferent in regards to the community.
And that's because despite it being so big it's massively fractured. You have to go looking to find its community.
There's the youtube community, which is itself split by the thousands of different youtubers. They can be volatile, but that's the norm on YouTube. And not only do you have to search for the videos, you then have to read the comments to see that community, so they're easily ignorable.
Then you have the forum community which is massive. You may have a bad time there just given the sheer number of people, but you do have to choose to visit the forum, and unlike ours you will also find mods off the forum so you aren't compelled to visit.
Then there's the sub-communities of different mods and servers, often on their own websites, so you can go years with never encountering them.

Really the community is not an issue at all because you are never required to meet them.
Unlike Blockland there's no server list, so no chance of meeting random members of the community without looking for them.
Instead the only minecraft community you meet can just be your friends, or members of another community, like Blockland.

the base game needs mods or it gets boring quick

cool game that's fun to play with friends and/or mods
the community is so broken it's basically dust though, and I feel like pvp is too overemphasized
a very vocal part of the community is utter trash tbh, especially the bits that look at every change and react with nothing but pure hatred

I'm more active on Minecraft than Blockland now a days. Servers are pretty decent, although I must agree the community can be pretty bad.
I have been apart of the forum though and haven't had any issues there, people are more polite on there than the blf has ever been.

Community is stuff
Game itself is... Decent...
Song community is cringeworthy
