Time for a history lesson.
Sonic '06 was an issue of time constraint. The publishers rushed the developers to "finish" the game for a holiday season release. Another reason was that it was supposed to celebrate the 15th anniversary of Sonic the Hedgehog, and they didn't want to push the deadline through to the 16th anniversary.
On top of that, during development the dev team was split so that they could work on a separate game for the Wii at the same time as Sonic '06, since they were having issues developing Sonic '06 for the Wii.
Sonic Boom wasn't developed by anyone at Sega. The project was given to
Big Red Button, an American development team/company that had never worked with Sonic before. In fact, they'd never made a single game. Sonic Boom is the only game they've developed, and it's sad when you actually see who all is on the team. They weren't new to game development, they'd just never made a sonic game before. One of the lead designers was actually one of the developers of Sonic Xtreme, an old Sonic game that was supposed to be on the Sega Saturn before it was cancelled, and he actually left the Sonic Boom team because of how stuff the project was starting to become. Even the developers were sick of it.
Konami is just making terrible business decisions for the whole company. It's not an issue of pressure to meet deadlines, and it's not an issue of an inexperienced team (hopefully). The problem is that the person calling the shots at Konami is a loving idiot, and wants to watch his company die.
