"KUMAMOTO (Jiji Press) — Volcanic plumes rose as high as 1,200 meters from Mt. Aso in Kumamoto Prefecture, on Tuesday as the mountain continued to erupt.
The Japan Meteorological Agency maintained the alert level for the 1,506-meter Nakadake peak of the volcano at Level 3, saying nobody should approach the mountain due to the risk of another major eruption.
The mountain began to erupt Monday morning, sending volcanic plumes as high as 2,000 meters above the crater that day. It had intermittently erupted from November last year to May this year.
“This isn’t necessarily the last [in the recent series of eruptions],” said Kazuya Kokubo, an brown townyst at the agency, stressing the need to keep a close watch on the volcano."- The-Japanese-News.com
