Author Topic: Do the forums take offense/butthurt by terms such as...  (Read 3649 times)

I use terms like these a lot:

autism, handicap, friend, mongoloid, downy, etc.

I just find them so aesthetically appealing as insults/tease, I can't imagine using anything else.

I'm not even gonna lie by saying I don't associate the term to the actual disorder or whatever, because the truth is I do, and pretty much everyone else. Only exception is probably friend.

there are a select few here who take offense to these terms but majority don't care

if they do "take offense" they need to stop being babies and grow up

autism is our trigger

the only term up there I'd consider being rude in a casual environment like here is downy, if only because I haven't heard the insult enough to be desensitized to it.

Only social justice warriors are offended by those terms

Considering people here say some of those pretty often, I'm sure nobody's offended by it. Why would you get offended by a weightless word anyway.

I'd say most of the BLF feels the same about these words. Those three words get tossed around pretty frequently.

as well as the people giving the names need to grow up

Why would you get offended by a weightless word anyway.
That's why I'm asking, I don't want to be known as an starfish by people because I apparently offended them.
as well as the people giving the names need to grow up
eh

a lot of people get worked up over "autism" now cause of sugar but i don't really care what you say as long as it isn't outright hate speech or racism

What? He's right though

Most don't, probably because this is the internet though. I probably wouldn't use this IRL because you can get your ass kicked for using some of those insults.

Haven't heard downy in a while, but that's really low to use.

friends called friends handicaps when they're acting handicapped

but you don't call a handicapped person handicapped, it's in bad taste

What? He's right though
He is right they are literally just words that have no meaning except what we give them but, we did not go through millions of years of evolution to spend our time insulting each other.
