Four things I'd like too rebut this with.
1. The difference here is that Stephen Hawking is a brilliant man who has accomplished many things in spite of his disability, and is a well respected scientist.
2. Secondly his voice is not as annoying as Sugar's in my opinion, and most people will probably say the same.
3. He has a disability about ten times worse than autism, he can't even move, he can't even
talk.
4. It's not like he's faking his disabilities, it has been well confirmed that he has them.
OT: I really don't think Sugar's faking her autism for attention, but the white knighting is up to a painful degree every time this debate happens, you have to be on Sugar's side so people don't openly attack you and are all like "Get out" whenever you try to defend yourself. Another thing I really don't think is right is that Sugar gets way to much attention and gentleness it's laughable, I'm not for treating her like trash, but I feel like people see Sugar and either:
A: Go up to Sugar and guard her from everything and everyone.
B: Make fun of Sugar even though it only really doesn't matter because Sugar probably won't even know and you'll just upset other people.
C: Say, "Oh, there's that autistic person." And stay neutral unless they are being harassed and then just punish like any other player is being harassed because there are plenty of autistic users on Blockland already and like people say, they're
all different, so why should we treat Sugar with more care than this autistic person?
You yourself probably fall into one of these categories, you may not fit the exact description but you will most likely be able to pinpoint where you stand.
I fall into C, which brings me to another point, if people who defend Sugar say that all autism is different why should we treat her with more care than other autistic users? And I know some is worse than others, but if it's all different surely we should treat other autistic users with care as well because they might have something worse than Sugar, but they just don't show it because they might not even understand how to chat or communicate. What if they have something in the social area but know how to communicate with people decently enough? It's very how because so many people know about Sugar they now have a reason for excusing her very spammy chat. What about the other autistic users who might have it even worse but concealing it in game? Do you think the entirety of the server or group of people come rushing in to help when they are made fun of?
Just making something perfectly clear, I'm not on the side with people who openly despise or intentionally try to hurt Sugar. But I'm not going to let everything she does that is unacceptable be excused with autism.
