i think i figured out why the game doesnt feel "alive". even if it breaks the fourth wall it does so in a predictable manner. it does nothing except that one jumpscare and the text files and the entering stuff. once you get your bearings and figure out how everything works you can expect no surprises. the game almost entirely follows the formulas of walk around until you find out puzzle > solve puzzle > scary stuff happens or walk around until you find puzzle > solve puzzle while scary stuff is happening and sometimes a combination of both. i have alread ycovered how all of the puzzles are walk up to thing and press e. horror, at least for me, is fear of the unknown. when i have seriously almost divided a game up into a grand total of two formulas and especially for a game that touts fourth wall breaking as its crown jewel the game developers have successfully forgeted up. white face in all of its variations operates exactly the same as a chasey thing that sometimes earrapes or a background decoration every time you see it. its little dialogue displays no character traits and it does not interact with the player in a meaningful way emotionally. the game doesnt even break the fourth wall in an interesting or creative way because once you get that it just does text file stuff its basically over. when breaking the fourth wall you have an almost unlimited amount of tools at your disposal to forget with people and thats seriously the only thing they could muster. the fourth wall just becomes another answer to the stupid puzzles with a bunch of them requiring you to go in the folder and read how to do stuff/edit files. basically this game sucks and you seem to be incapable of seeing flaws in the game because you are terrified of white pixel faces.
