I hate to sound like a twat who knows nothing, but what does "deprecating" mean? Also,
/title

EDIT: My friend panicked when he saw this update, but I'm not sure which MAC OS X he's got

it doesn't seem like the right word to use unless they literally mean "we are expressing disapproval of support for OS X 10.6..."

I don't really care since I use windows
But to be honest, even tough I dislike apple in general, this seems a bad idea for steam.

Deprecate in software terms means that support for it will end.
Basically you should be able to still use it on 10.6, but you won't get any updates.

nice one steam
this is exactly why i don't like apple
another company forcing you to have the latest and greatest

But apple doesn't own steam...? So how exactly is this Apple's fault?

because companies keep doing this to them
not just steam
obviously regardless of apples actions I'm not going to but their product if companies do this stuff all the time

It really isn't Valve's fault Apple breaks compatibility with almost everything they don't actually make themselves every time they update OSX. It's actually extra work for everyone who wants their software to be compatible with all OSX versions. Some developers don't think it's worth the effort.

Edit:

Because Steam specifically has to make Steam work for multiple versions of OSX. For windows, they just update the windows version of steam and it works for all versions of windows.

So its apple being handicapped again?

yeah this is basically what im trying to get at
i could still play all my games on XP even though windows mainstream support for it

Again? This has been an ongoing thing. It hasn't ever stopped to 'happen again'.
